Guide for Covid-19

Therefore, we have created a Guide for COVID-19 to give useful information to expats and locals in Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease which is caused by a new virus. We know so far that it causes respiratory illness like the flu with symptoms such as cough, fever and shortness of breath.
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV), Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and COVID-19 are all respiratory illnesses that are caused by the same large family of viruses called coronavirus.

Apart from working from home and doing self-quarantine, you can also protect yourself and help prevent the spread of the virus to others by following WHO’s basic preventive measures against the COVID-19 as follows:
- Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds with soap and water and alcohol-based hand sanitizer
- Cover your nose and mouth with tissue paper or a flexed elbow when you cough or sneeze
- Avoid close contact (1 meter or 3 feet) with people who are unwell
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with your unclean hands
- Clean objects or surfaces that you frequently touch
- If you have a flu or showing flu-like symptoms, wear a mask, and go see a doctor
Seeking Care for Covid-19
Here are some indications to determine if you need to get tested for COVID-19.
You may go to the hospital, which you have used in the past; where you have a good level of confidence.
A doctor at this hospital will evaluate your condition and risk of exposure and will suggest whether or not you need to get tested. However, most hospitals will not have the test kits locally but will extract your blood and send it to one of the authorized laboratories to be tested.
